Hydrate to Dominate: The Hydration Station

Did you know that 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated? We may drink the recommended 8 glasses of water a day, but that hydration is offset by a high intake of caffeinated beverages, alcohol, and high sodium diets. Or, on the flip side, if you watch your caffeine, alcohol and sodium intake, and workout all the time, you aren’t exempt. Your high activity level might cause you to also live in a state of chronic dehydration.
On a personal level, I feel like I can’t ever drink enough water, and that I am always trying to play “catch up” to get back to a hydrated state. Aging hasn’t helped. So, what do we do? One solution to this never-ending chase is intravenous (aka IV) hydration.
IV hydration has been used in modern medicine as a way to keep medical patients well hydrated while being treated. It wasn’t until recently though that people started using IV hydration as a way to recover from hangovers, illnesses, and strenuous physical activity. So, whether you’re a weekend warrior at the bar or at the gym, incorporating IV hydration to your recovery routine will greatly benefit you.
What’s The Hydration Station?
Chris Jaeger, a Cincinnati native, fell in love with IV hydration while visiting friends in major cities throughout the US. A 20-something, he was primarily seeking relief from a long night out, but since then, he realized the great health benefits that go with this form of therapy. His wife, an anesthesiologist, shares this passion and they decided to start offering on-site hydration services. Over the past year, they have traveled to homes, offices, and hotels across the city administering IV hydration therapy, and a few months ago, they opened up a brick-and-mortar at 9th and Race in Downtown Cincinnati.
Their space is super clean, inviting and relaxing—the kind of place you want to bring a friend and hang out at, which was their intention. The room is divided up into sections with comfy chairs and big screen TVs to keep you entertained while getting hydrated. They have a private room where the IV is administered, then once you’re all hooked up, you are free to relax and hang out in the main room.
Besides the cool space, what sets their services apart from other IV hydration services is that each of their IV bags are custom mixed for you when you walk in the door to ensure that you are getting the nutrients in their most effective state. I didn’t know this going in to our meeting, but apparently most places pre-mix the bags and put them in the fridge, which causes many of the vitamins and minerals to lose their effectiveness.
What they offer:
Their offerings and add-ons are extensive but the ones that are the most popular are:
- The Revive: IV with Lactated Ringers, B vitamins, Anti Nausea or Pain Relief to get you feeling as good as new
- The Iron-Man: IV with Lactated Ringers, B vitamins, Vitamin C, and Tri-Amino Acids with optional add-ons for a pre-workout boost or a post-workout recovery.
- The Myers’ Cocktail PLUS: IV with Lactated Ringers B Vitamins, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium, and Glutathione. This is our most versatile IV to meet a wide variety of demands!
- The Anti-Aging: IV with Lactated Ringers, B vitamins, Vitamin C, Tri-Amino Acids, and Glutathione.
Another benefit of Hydration Station is that they are overseen by an anesthesiologist that is here in Cincinnati (and the wife of the owner). So, if there is ever any concerns or questions, she’s on site or right down the road to help.
Hydration Station has a membership program that allows you to get a bit of a price break on services (and keeps you accountable to actually going regularly to be your most hydrated self). Or, you can simply schedule a drop in. For more information and to book your visit, go to https://hydrationstation513.com/.
